Free-Heel Skiing, Explained
What the Heck
What the Heck
is Telemark?
Telemark is downhill skiing on a free heel — the boot stays clipped at the toe only, so every turn drops into a graceful, kneeling lunge instead of a locked-in carve. It's older than alpine skiing, harder to learn, and for the people who stick with it, hard to give up. Bob is PSIA-certified in both alpine and telemark and teaches it right here in Crested Butte.
